“My early success in 4-H projects and livestock judging provided a sense of accomplishment and a belief that if you work hard success will follow. My 4-H career created in me a sense of community pride and community service. I developed a love for agriculture in general and for animal agriculture in particular, leading to a life-long interest in science.”

Sara “Sally” Stuby began her leadership roles as an officer and teen leader of the FLS Challengers 4-H club, the St. Joseph County Teen Service Club and as a representative on the State Livestock Judging Team at the Kansas City American Royal. Stuby received her bachelor’s in communications arts and education from MSU and a master’s in educational leadership from Western Michigan University. Early in her career she was a teacher at Owosso High School and Holy Angels School, in Sturgis; where she also served as principal. She began her career in MSU Extension as an agriculture and natural resources agent for integrated pest management and field crops and then became district extension agent for groundwater stewardship. Since 1999, Stuby has served as the regional director for MSU Extension’s Southwest Region. Additionally, Stuby and her husband, Dale, co-own and operate Dale Stuby Farms, a 1,000-acre crop farm in Constantine.

Stuby has served in various leadership roles with the Centreville FFA Advisory Board, St. Joseph County 4-H Leaders Council, St. Joseph County Pork Producers, Michigan Farm Bureau and Michigan Tel-Farm Program, being awarded the Outstanding Tel Farm of the Year. She also served on the Centreville Public School Board of Education from 1980 to 1988 and has been active with the Centreville Schools Alumni Association. Stuby also remains active at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church serving as Sunday School teacher, Catechism teacher, Church Council president and stewardship committee member. In addition, her service includes 14 years as the Rolling Clovers 4-H Club leader, eight years on the State 4-H International Exchange Committee, 15 years of co-leadership in the St. Joseph County 4-H Veterinary and Animal Science program and 10 years as the St. Joseph County Fair 4-H sheep superintendant.
