“The knowledge and experience gained from my nine years as a 4-H member has been instrumental in how I’ve lived my personal life and has contributed to the success of my professional career and community service work.”

From Sanilac to Singapore with snapshots of Dubai and Cambodia in between, Reid’s talents have made a lasting difference in the lives of children and the underprivileged across three continents. A former Sanilac County 4-H Queen, 4-H State Swine Award winner and Michigan representative to the 4-H Washington Citizenship Focus at National 4-H Congress, Reid received a degree in dental hygiene from Ferris State University. She launched the continuing education program for dental professionals during her time as a dental hygiene instructor at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. After moving to Georgetown, Texas, Reid developed and coordinated several “youth and tooth” oral health education programs including The Cavity-Free Corral, Tooth ‘n Tale and Healthy Miles for Healthy Smiles geared toward preschool and elementary students of all economic backgrounds. She has served on the Georgetown Independent School District’s School Health Advisory Council and the Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation. Dawn’s responsibilities at the foundation have included program development and editorial oversight on the statewide newsletter “Brushin’ Up.”

Combining a series of work-related relocations with a passion for living the 4-H pledge to service for the world, Reid has leant her time to such worthy causes as building houses for the poor in Cambodia and raising awareness for special needs children in Dubai. A donor to the Michigan 4-H Foundation and Georgetown Public Library among other organizations, Reid currently resides in Singapore with her family where she volunteers as a division coordinator and parent advisory board member of the Singapore Ice Dragons Youth Hockey League.
