Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator
Betty James is a Michigan licensed registered nurse and nursing home administrator. She is a graduate of the Blackstone School of Law, received her associate’s degree in nursing from Henry Ford Community College, her bachelor’s in nursing from Madonna College, and a master’s in adult education from Michigan State University. She also became a member of the American Academy of Forensic Science in 2004. She currently works as a nursing home consultant and is also a nursing home mediator appointed by the state of Michigan for nursing home abuse investigations. Her previous positions include serving as both a licensing officer and nurse consultant for the Michigan Department of Public Health; and as associate director of nursing, director of inservice, and coronary care and head nurse for Seaway Hospital in Trenton. She received the first National Nurse Surveyor Award and the first Nurse Surveyor Federal Administrative Award. James currently serves
as a volunteer field clinical instructor for senior students from the
MSU College of Nursing. She is involved with the VFW National Home for
Children and is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution receiving
many honors including the Daughters of Liberty and Martha Washington medals.
She is also active in her church as a Sunday school teacher, past Sunday
school superintendent, educational director and church secretary.
