Director,
Environment Health and Safety Risk Management, “The project approach of the 4-H program developed my leadership and applied skills in friendly and encouraging settings without bias. This gave me the self-confidence to find a solution to every challenge and formed the basis for my philosophy in working with 4-H youth.” Claire Rasmussen has led the Dow Corning team in chemical risk management and compliance, risk communications and exposure assessment for more than 20 years. She currently serves as global risk manager, defining health and environmental risk management methods and strategies for high-profile global issues. When not
focused on global environmental risk issues, Rasmussen is contributing
her time and talents as a member and president of the Midland County Educational
Service Agency Board. She was actively involved in establishing of one
of Michigan’s original seven charter schools and helped implement
a five-year strategic plan that resulted in new special education rules,
technology upgrades, addressing budget issues and establishing a new county
trades training center. Rasmussen was a member of the board of directors
of The ARC of Midland, serving in all officer positions. This board helped
establish a peer group for citizens with disabilities, for which they
received the National ARC Award. The board also created a community supported-living
program that allows citizens with disabilities to live in their own homes.
She is also a Midland County 4-H volunteer leader.
