Executive
Director, “4-H taught me at a young age about citizenship, leadership, self-esteem and humility. 4-H is a practical, hands-on planned activity for achievement; an integral part of the 4-H experience is goal setting, evaluation, skill building, teamwork and learning how to become more productive as a person in today’s diverse society.” Charles W. McCallum has been responsible for workforce, business and membership development for a number of organizations and institutions throughout Michigan. As the current executive director for Michigan Works in Benton Harbor, he has expanded one-stop community service centers to five, meeting and exceeding state customer and program standards. He has also overseen massive changes regulated by Michigan’s Welfare-to-Work program and has led the state in meeting 13 U.S. Department of Labor Standards for three years. Before joining Michigan Works, he was president and owner of Venture Catalyst Network, LLC, where he facilitated business development for entrepreneurs, businesses and investors. He also served as president of Fiber Float, Inc. McCallum
has been an association executive with the Associated Builders and Contractors,
the Michigan Cherry and Asparagus Committees, the MSU Alumni Association
and the American Bar Association. He has worked for Michigan State University
as director of annual giving and for Adrian College as director of alumni
relations and placement. He is an active member of the St. Joseph/Benton
Harbor Rotary Club and Foundation and a member of the Governor’s
Workforce Investment Board.
