“[In 4-H, I] had a great time, developed life-time friendships and have had over 50 years of exposure to the best people in the world!”

An award-winning Berrien County independent insurance agent for more than 44 years, John J. Janke is most known in his community as an avid supporter of youth and youth-serving organizations. He was elected to the board of the Good Shepherd Lutheran School and served as its president. His untiring support of 4-H in Berrien County has included 15 years as a member of the Berrien County 4-H Foundation and 18 years as a 4-H volunteer. He was also president and nine-year member of the Berrien County 4-H Leaders Council. He is a noted supporter of youth agricultural leadership through 4-H, FFA and the Berrien County Youth Fair. “I cannot begin to tell you the number of young lives that John Janke has touched in a positive way through the years,” wrote his 4-H Centennial alumni nominator.
